In this project, Farashi Electric replaced an older Sylvania subpanel that had become a safety concern. The client requested an upgrade after concerns about fire risk and the overall condition of the existing panel. During the process, the inspector rejected the old subpanel, and we proceeded with installing a new Siemens subpanel for improved safety and reliability.
What We Found
After opening and inspecting the existing panel, we found an older Sylvania subpanel that was no longer a good long-term solution for the property. Because of the age and condition of the panel, it was considered a potential fire hazard. The inspector also flagged the panel and required replacement before approval.
Issues identified included:
Older Sylvania subpanel with safety concerns
Potential fire risk due to the condition of the panel
Existing setup was not acceptable for final approval
Panel needed to be replaced with a safer, updated subpanel
What We Did
To correct the issue, we removed the old Sylvania subpanel and installed a new Siemens subpanel. We transferred the existing branch circuits, re-terminated connections as needed, and organized the breakers for a cleaner and safer installation.
Work performed:
Removed the existing Sylvania subpanel
Installed a new Siemens subpanel
Transferred and reconnected branch circuits
Labeled the breakers clearly
Checked the installation for proper operation and safety
Final Result
The property now has a newer Siemens subpanel that provides a safer and more reliable electrical distribution setup. Replacing the older Sylvania panel helped address the fire-risk concern and brought the installation to a much better standard for long-term use.
